Art Unlimited is a Brazilian company which since 1996 has produced more than 100 national and international exhibitions that have received important visual arts awards, attesting to the high standards and quality of its work. Our partners most notably include the British Council, Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil (CCBB), Escher Foundation, Henry Moore Foundation, Itaú Cultural, Mondrian Foundation, Museu Oscar Niemeyer (MON), Pinacoteca de São Paulo, Sprengel Museum Hannover, Stedelijk Museum of Amsterdam, and Tokyo Fuji Museum.
In constant contact and dialogue with Brazilian and international cultural institutions, we act in an integrated way in the public and private sectors. The company produced the most visited exhibition in the world in 2011, O Mundo Mágico de Escher [The Magical World of Escher], which positioned the brand of our partner CCBB at the top of the international “Top Ten” ranking of The Art Newspaper, the journal of record for the visual arts world. This interactive exhibition curated by Pieter Tjabbes, managing partner of Art Unlimited, is considered a benchmark for visual arts in Brazil, as it redefined the way that Brazilians consume art and drew a record number of visitors at all of the cultural institutions where it was held.
Our multidisciplinary team is dedicated to the design and management of projects. We offer contents that privilege art and education, entertainment and the democratization of knowledge. We organize exhibitions, deploy socioccultural and environmental projects, editorial projects, educational programs, curatorships, urban interventions, interactive contents, scenographic art projects, consulting and museological upgrading.
Our network of professionals involves the collaborative work of artists, consultants specialized in various areas, and curators. We have a strong commitment to social, environmental and economic development.
We understand art as an effective communication tool of great impact in the media, with the power to open new dialogues. Art offers a strong emotional and sensorial link with the target public. The events we produce are tailor-made for the specific needs of our clients, seeking to optimize and enlarge the investments of our partners and sponsors, strengthening their brands: Vale, Bradesco, CSN, Caixa Econômica Federal, Fiat, Gerdau, Absolut, Grendene, Nestlé, Copel, and others.
The company is directed by Pieter Tjabbes, who holds degrees in law and art history from the University of Leiden, Holland, having previously served as technical director of the director of the Museu de Arte Moderna (MAM) de São Paulo (1990–1991) and director of Stedelijk Museum in Schiedam, in Holland (1991–1995). After moving definitively to Brazil, he worked for the Ministry of Culture and served as international manager of the Fundação Bienal (1995–2002). He directed the project for the museological upgrading of the Galeria do Conjunto Cultural da Caixa Econômica Federal, in Brasília, as well as that of the Museu do Estado de Pernambuco, in Recife.
Tânia Mills, directing partner of Art Unlimited since 2002, holds a degree in visual arts from FAAP and works as a cultural producer. As a professional with a long track record in the organization, coordination and production of cultural events in the areas of the visual arts, cinema, theater, publicity films and photography, she is recognized for her skills in the areas of planning, organization and communication, in both a national and international context. She worked together with the curatorship and international management of the Bienal de São Paulo in its 24th and 25th editions, and of the 4th Bienal de Arquitetura, between 1997 and 2002.
