This interactive, didactic and playful art exhibition that combined art and science was, according to The Art Newspaper ranking, the most visited exhibition in the world in 2011. More than 2,500,000 people visited CCBB’s exhibition spaces in different cities in Brazil to view Mundo Mágico de Escher. In Curitiba and Belo Horizonte the exhibition A Magia de Escher [The Magic of Escher] set new visitation records in those cities.
The exhibition combined a great deal of originality with high-quality technique, teaching the visitors diverse concepts of mathematics and geometry, while also offering insight into how our minds work. Mundo Mágico de Escher featured 95 pieces, ranging from original prints to drawings and facsimiles, including all the artist’s most famous pieces, together with the most enigmatic ones. Developed for five years by Art Unlimited, A Magia de Escher offered entertainment and interactivity as the viewers experienced the optical and mirroring effects Escher used in his work.
