OBSERVERS

PHOTOGRAPHERS FROM THE BRITISH SCENE FROM 1932 UNTIL TODAY

The subject of the Observers is Great Britain – its society and culture, places and people. This exhibition presents pieces by about 40 photographers, including many famous ones, who, over the last 80 years, focused their effort neither on the outside world nor on inner worlds, but on their own country and on the customs, character and condition of its inhabitants. The exhibition questions the very nature of photography and the different uses photographers have made of it through time, with special attention to what these diverse pictures convey about the essential features of a determined nation and place. Curated by Martin Caiger-Smith and João Kulcsár. The exhibition won the award for Best Photographic Exhibition of the Year from the Associação Paulista de Críticos de Artes (APCA) in 2012.
