The exhibition Ancient Egypt: From Daily Life to Eternity offers the public a trip to one of the most impressive civilizations in history. It gathers 140 original pieces of the second greater Egyptian collection in the world at the Egyptian Museum in Turin, surpassed only by the Museum of Cairo, Egypt.
The artworks are divided according to three sections: daily life, religion, and funerary customs. The sections reveal the arduous day-to-day of the people of the Nile Valley, the characteristics of Egyptian polytheism, and the funerary habits of the ancient Egyptians, based on the belief in the afterlife. The exhibit includes sculptures, paintings, liturgical objects, sarcophagus, and animal mummies, as well as installations specially designed for interactions with the public. Amongst these are the 20 feet tall scenographic pyramid, a replica of the sculpture of Pharaoh Ramesses II, and a display of an archaeological excavation. It also features the Book of the Dead, that shows instructions on how to behave during the journey to the underworld, a replica of the Tomb of Queen Nefertari, known as the Sistine Chapel of the Egyptian tombs, and even a human mummy!
