THE MERZ ARTIST

This retrospective exhibition of German artist Kurt Schwitters (1887–1948), held in São Paulo and Curitiba, featured 120 original pieces along with a reconstruction of the famous MERZBAU. The exhibition, the outcome of a partnership between Germany’s Foreign Affairs Ministry and Goethe-Institut São Paulo, brought together prominent pieces from collections of the Sprengel Museum, in Hanover, and the Kurt and Ernst Schwitters Foundation, in a comprehensive overview of the work of one of the most important artists of the 20th century. Curated by Karin Orchard. Best International Exhibition Award from the Brazilian Association of Art Critics (ABCA), 2007.
